I took these words to heart and I have been asking myself – what can I do to help? Being an event planner the first thing that popped into mind was to create something. After deciding that with a soon to be three year old a trip to DC was out of the question I started thinking about my backyard, The Hudson Valley.
I was so inspired during the election process at how many people worked so hard especially Stephen Gilman who founded Hudson Valley for Obama. Yea, I was able to help a little with phone banking, I attended a rally and created an event in Union Square Park in Manhattan called “Chant the Vote” but I wasn’t able to fully apply myself.
So when I heard our new president's message on November 4th, 2008 I really got the reminder that the time is now for ALL of us to come together. So I dreamed up a communal viewing of the Inauguration at our local Geothermal Recreation Center. The dust settled after the holidays and I reached out to The Rosendale Recreation Director, Heidi Jewett. She was away on a much needed break but returned my call immediately upon her return. We were given the thumbs up about the event on Monday, January 12th and flyers were designed and hung. Email were sent and calls have been made.

This is a free event but donations of canned goods for The Rosendale Food Pantry will be accepted. Items they need now:
